We are looking for an experienced, positive and enthusiastic Material Engineer who can contribute in driving our key development projects going forward!

The position as a Material Specialist in R&D is a broad role since the development projects handle many aspects (such as research, design, material, environmental, installation) of our products. Since NKT has the ambition to renew and trim existing product portfolios, we are now looking to strenghten the team in R&D and development of cable accessories.

Experience within material properties and characterization  
As part of the R&D team You will participate in various cable accessories related R&D projects and assignments that differs in scope and length. 

The team consists of six persons that works in Alingsås and collaborates with other R&D-teams within NKT. A great deal of interactions with other sites is a normal day to day way of work. 

Other parts of the role:
•    Taking a leading role with regards to material related questions. Specific in the field of Elastomers (EPDM, Silicone), composites and metallics.
•    To perform lab compounding and corresponding material testing. 
•    To be advising and give support to colleagues and internal customers. 
•    To handle material aspects in patents, university collaborations and similar.
•    To act as a generator for ideas in both ongoing projects and in strategic discussions. 

Communicative and with a positive mindset
To perform the tasks requires structure mixed with personal qualities such as be able to work independently, having a strong willingness to change and act effortless between different functions and production sites. You possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to tailor your communication to your audience.  
You see the value of being a team-player and your tools and goals in the process are often the same; honesty, integrity and tolerance. You manage your time effectively to complete projects; adheres to a structured and clear plan. You view problems as challenges and take your experiences with you whenever you face a new one. 

You thrive in a role where you need to take responsibility and effectively collaborate with multi-disciplinary team members to achieve the project goals. 

Additional your CV also includes:
•    You have typically a BSc. or MSc in Chemical Engineering
•    You have experience working in an R&D environment involving polymer materials
•    Project leader experiences is an advantage
•    It is a merit if you have experience in the field of Intellectual Property and have experience in supporting production and other functions in a corresponding role
•    Positive mindset and excellent communication skills
